Soccer is easily the most popular sport in Ghana, and the national team’s success in the South Africa 2010 competition has lead the upcoming Brazil games to be highly anticipated and discussed at every junction and chop bar. But despite the country-wide excitement, many Ghanaians cannot actually watch the games, particularly children. The majority being in rural areas with no access to electricity.

The Akaa Project wants to bring the excitement of the World Cup to 500+ children, youth and adults in the rural Akaa community. But we need your help to make this happen.

We are raising $350 for the necessary materials and services (network cable, television, generator) to extend the joy of football to village communities.

So while you make your own plans for watching the USA take on Ghana, and the many other edge-of-your-seat match ups, think about the smiles you could help create.
