10. Asiafo Amanfro Community School Excursions: Field trip to Akosombo Dam and Mmofra Trom (Carol Gray International School Complex) with the Asiafo Amanfro Community School. Part of our commitment and belief of life skills development, learning outside of academics and having fun! 

 9. Pig births: Our pig farm expanded from 3 pigs to 15 pigs in 1 week!

6. PAINT, PAINT, PAINT: We overloaded on painted this month: volunteer and board member, Elizabeth Plumley, painted the community library; we held painting classes for children and women during the holidays; painted the outside of the community center to make it stand out in the village!

4. Lighting up the village: We gave out 35 solar lamps to the women in the Akaa community.

 

3. Clean Water: Completion of 2 boreholes in 2 villages (Hasi and Asiafo Amanfro) in the Akaa community.

2. Women Water Management: In Ghana and around the world, women are responsible for water in the household. They fetch water for bathing, cooking, drinking and washing. But most community decision making in rural areas comprises of solely men. There can be imbalance of knowledge and decisions. With our new boreholes, women hold the management responsibility.

1. We’ve accomplished a lot and not stopping either, so what’s next for us?

  •  Women’s micro-loans (using cell phones and mobile money): having an interest rate that women can actually focus on growing their business instead of struggling to pay back the loan
  • Construction of a VIP latrine
  • Eco-tourism
